Ground floor extension, Latimer Road

A 30m² ground floor extension served by an air source heat pump, installed for Lorne Lofts Ltd. Single zone, screed system, with the screed pour programmed for the following day — so the whole installation, from first fix to pressure test, had to be complete and signed off in one day on site.

Scope

• Underfloor heating pipework and clips, set out at 200mm centres
• Manifold with isolation valves, pump set and blending unit
• Perimeter edge insulation upstands to the full perimeter, including internal walls
• Thermostat and control wiring provision
• Pressure testing, held through the screed pour
• Commissioning and certificate

Detail that matters

Continuous edge insulation. Upstands run to the full perimeter including internal walls. This limits thermal bridging at the floor edge and gives the screed room to expand without cracking against the structure.

Every circuit labelled with its length. Flow and return tails are marked at the manifold. Whoever commissions, balances or services this system in ten years' time can read the floor without lifting it.

System left under pressure through screeding. Any damage during the pour shows immediately on the gauge, rather than surfacing months later beneath a finished floor.

Outcome

Installed and tested in a single day, screed poured to programme the following morning, no delay to the main contractor's schedule.
